State Guide
Johor
Gateway to the South
Johor was founded by Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah II in 1528 after the fall of Melaka. The Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque, built in 1900, is the crown jewel of Johor's Islamic heritage — one of the most beautiful Victorian-Moorish mosques in Malaysia. Johor Bahru is the gateway to Singapore and a growing hub for Muslim family tourism, with Legoland, Desaru Coast, and increasingly, MFAR-certified resorts.
